Allegations of systematic spying on board members at Deutsche Telekom must be clarified as soon as possible, according to a leading investor rights group. DSW, Germany’s largest association for private investors, has welcomed the news that the German Public Prosecutor has been called in by Telekom and that investigations have been started.
According to DSW the accusations of spying have damaged the company’s public image, and may have broader ramifications. The company tenders for business in areas where confidentiality is paramount, for example the new digital police radio or the new health insurance card. DSW believes the fact that sensitive data has been leaked to the public can only be bad for such business in the future.
